Overview
Since 1996, I have been a web site developer who works independently, exceeds all expectations,
requires no training, and brings in projects ahead of schedule and under budget. I've been the sole developer or lead developer for sites that used HTML, JavaScript,
ASP, CFM, XML and style sheets. I taught myself how to code HTML, ASP and CFM by
hand, as well as how to use XMLSpy, Interwoven TeamSite, Microsoft InfoPath, Visual
InterDev and more. I am now learning C++ programming and Microsoft Visual Studio.
I have worked concurrently for companies including AT&T,
Lucent Technologies, Avaya, Verizon and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Experience
Oct. 2003 - Present — Web Developer, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Develop and maintain XML-coded grant results reports. Contracted by my former AT&T/Lucent Technologies boss who knew my work quite well, I was brought in to combine the roles of two workers so they could concentrate on other responsibilities.
Requiring no training, I hit the ground running. By XML-coding the foundation's reports, making updates and correcting errors in existing reports, I help the foundation maintain higher quality and accuracy in less time. I have completed my work well under budget each year.
Feb. 2006 - Feb. 2007 — Senior Mgr, Global Sales Portal, Avaya
Manage the design and development of a new sales portal for the entire company
as well as their business partners; maintain daily news content, create new content,
ensure content quality and drive strategic direction and enhancements. Hired after 11 years as a
contractor, I was brought in to leverage my experience with the BEA/Interwoven/Filenet
platform that supports the existing enterprise portal. My years within the system
gave me the credibility and experience required to be the global editor-in-chief.
Sept. 2001 - Dec. 2002 — Web Developer, Verizon
Develop and maintain intranet site. Launched a new Verizon intranet for the Safety, Health & Environment organization adhering to new standards and guidelines developed by an outside agency. I was the sole developer for the site.
Oct. 1996 - Dec. 2005 — Web Developer, AT&T/Lucent Technologies/Avaya
As AT&T was spinning off Lucent Technologies in 1996, its first intranet was born. As the
webmaster and single point-of-contact for dozens of marketing managers, my work enabled almost
immediate communication between headquarters and the sales force. Managers sent me essential sales tools,
pricing and provisioning information, and much more, which I translated into HTML and/or posted online in
their native formats, often within minutes. Such speed of communication hadn’t been seen by this organization.
I tutored users who were new to the web. As the person with the most knowledge of the web site,
I responded to phone calls and webmaster email from people in search of information and assistance.
In 1999 I saved my organization at Lucent Technologies more than $50,000 by finishing the site
redesign work started by an outside firm.
In August 2000, I was hand-picked to launch a new Avaya intranet for which I was the sole developer.
Developed database applications and Java applets when the company's ad agency failed to deliver. In December
2004 Avaya began using Interwoven's Content Center v6.1 and enabling authors to publish their own materials.
With four years of Interwoven TeamSite experience at that time, I became the site's primary reviewer, approver
and quality manager. In addition, I maintained the Press Room and Corporate sections of the public site,
www.Avaya.com, using a proprietary content management system and Microsoft's
InfoPath.
Prior to 1995 I worked in marketing communications for an ad agency, a computer software company, and for my
own desktop publishing business, Words Worth Publishing, Inc.
Education
Bachelor of Arts in Literature from S.U.N.Y. at Purchase, Purchase, New York, 1982. Also studied filmmaking at
C.W. Post (Long Island University) and Purchase.
